How Big is the Kodak Bear?
Grizzly bears are a subspecies of brown bear, and their size can vary depending on the population and the time of year. For example, in the Alaskan peninsula, coastal grizzly bears are larger than those in northern interior Canada. In the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, male grizzlies typically weigh between 300–700 pounds, while females weigh 200–400 pounds. In Alaska, grizzlies can weigh up to 1,200 pounds because of the abundance of salmon.
